1973

Arctic Circle Air Service, Inc. started by pilot Douglas Butler as a charter air service between Fairbanks and Fort Yukon. The company began with a C206 and a C170 by catering to trappers and local residents.

1973

The addition of a Piper Navajo Chieftan came along with a scheduled route between Fairbanks and Fort Yukon. Restructuring and expansion of the company led to more pilots, one of which is still with the company today!

1973

Two Embraer Bandeirante aircraft were added to service 27 communities as a subcontractor for a mainline carrier in the Yukon Flats area. One of the aircraft was used for a BLM smokejumper contract.

1973

After some changes and restructuring in the 80's, an Anchorage group took over the operation and has since expanded the company's market. The expansion later led to a second base in the Yukon-Kuskokwim delta city of  Bethel which serves 27 communities.

1973

Continuing expansion of the Southwestern Alaska market led to the opening of a base in Dillingham which now serves the freight and passenger needs of eight communities.

1973

Market conditions from Prince William Sound to Bristol Bay allowed Arctic Circle to open an Anchorage base that has grown to serve an expanding list of nine communities.

1973

The fleet expands with the addition of a Sherpa and two King Airs for growth into the mail and freight markets.
